おはようございます！リレーブログ最終走者の蕗です。

ベトナムでは40度(!!）なんて、ものすごく暑そうですね。こちらも夏真っ盛りの日本ですが、夏のご挨拶でお中元を贈られる（た）方*1も多いのではないでしょうか。今日は、そんな時にも活躍するふろしきのお話です。

2010年トルコにおける日本年を記念して、これからのデザインを担う学生さん向けに国際交流基金と在トルコ日本大使館が開催するこの「ふろしきデザインコンテスト」。日本またはトルコにお住まいの大学生・専門学校生であれば誰でもトルコと日本との融合をイメージしたデザインを応募いただけます。〆切はいよいよ8月16日（月）ですよ。詳しくはHPの応募要領をご覧下さいね！入賞者のデザインは、なんと2010年トルコにおける日本年記念グッズとしてふろしきに製品化されます☆

Call for Entry ”Furoshiki Design Competition for Students in Turkey and Japan”

In commemoration of "Japan Year 2010 in Turkey," The Japan Foundation and Embassy of Japan in Turkey co-organize Furoshiki Design Competition for students in both countries who are studying design at colleges and vocational schools.

The winners will be announced in September and two best designs will be used as the memorial Furoshiki cloths. Application period: Thursday, July 1 to Monday, August 16, 2010.

ふろしきといえば、５月にはふろしき研究家帰国報告会＆ふろしき包み方ワークショップ ～海外公募によるJFオリジナルふろしき完成記念～も行なわれました。

「応募者が居住する国と日本との融合をイメージしたもの」というテーマのもと、韓国、中国、インドネシア、タイ、フィリピン、マレーシア、メキシコ、ブラジル、ロシア、ベトナムの10カ国でデザインの未来を担う学生からたくさんのふろしきデザインが送られてきました！優秀作品は韓国、中国、ブラジルより選ばれ、JFオリジナルふろしきに、その他の優秀作品3点を除く上位10点の入賞作品はJFオリジナルふろしきポストカード（全10枚）となりました。JFICショップ（JFライブラリ内）でご購入いただけます。

　　　

✿ふろしき研究家帰国報告会 Report meeting on Furoshiki workshop in Vietnam and Indonesia　

お越しいただいた講師の先生方はふろしき研究会の尾崎聡子さん、半田博子さん、村田静枝さんです。今年3月の『市民青少年交流（主催）事業／環境教育』事業において、インドネシアでの「第6回 エコプロダクツ国際展」の中やベトナムでふろしきの魅力を日本文化と環境保護の両面から伝えられたお三方。今回の報告会では、写真や動画を交え、現地の熱い様子をご報告くださいました。インドネシアではジャワ更紗（BATIK）など“布”は普段の生活に無くてはならない必需品でありながら、日本ほど「結ぶ」ことはせず、「ねじって固定する」というのが主流など文化の違いを感じられたとのこと。ベトナムでも会場にはたくさんの若い世代の参加者が楽しそうにふろしき体験をされたようです。

The Japan foundation dispatched the three Furoshiki specialists- Ms.Satoko Ozaki, Ms.Hiroko Handa and Ms.Shizue Murata -to Vietnam and Indonesia for Furoshiki workshops in March 2010. After coming back to Japan, they made presentations how their activities went in those countries with interesting foundings -In Indoesia: they hardly "knot" but "twist and fasten" with clothes, while we always knot, knot, knot...in Japan. In vietnam, there are lots of young people coming to the furoshiki workshop!

✿ふろしきの包み方ワークショップ Furoshiki Wrapping Workshop by the three specialists

報告会の後は、お三方による包み方ワークショップ。まずは、風呂敷の歴史や「包」という漢字の由来から…この漢字の由来、皆さんはご存知でしょうか？

After the presentations, we had Furoshiki wrapping workshop! To begin with, we use the kanji “包” meaning “wrapping” in Japanese, but do you have any idea where the kanji came from?

「包」という漢字は、母親の胎内に子どもが宿っている様子を表した象形文字がもとになっている、とのこと。そうなのです！包むことには大切な赤ちゃんを守るお母さんの優しさが溢れているのです。素敵ですよね♫ふろしきの文様も、男の子を出産した方への贈り物をする時は、中国の故事から立身出世を願う「鯉の滝のぼり」を用いる、というように一つ一つ意味があり大変興味深いものでした。ご存知の唐草模様にはこんな意味が…以前開催のワークショップの様子はこちら。

Here is the answer ….. The kanji “包” looks like a baby inside its mother's womb, doesn’t it? You see, wrapping is full of mother’s kindness. More interestingly, each pattern of furoshiki has a meaning, for example, a pattern of carp-shaped streamers means a wish a good-health to a baby boy, etc.

国際展運営の裏側が！？ ―あいちトリエンナーレ2010オープニングシンポジウムのご案内―

ご無沙汰しております。松岡です。

じつは今、愛知県に来てます。

この4月から、あいちトリエンナーレ2010の事務局で働いてまして、あいちトリエンナーレ事務局の末端でお手伝いをさせていただきつつ、この国際展にあわせてジャパンファウンデーションが実施する事業の準備を進めてます。

あいちトリエンナーレは、この夏初めて第一回が開催される国際展。現代美術のみならず舞台芸術や映像など多様なメニューが特徴で、テーマは「都市の祝祭」。国立国際美術館館長の建畠晢氏が芸術監督を務めます。ジャパンファウンデーションは、これまで横浜トリエンナーレを立ち上げ、運営してきた経験を生かして、特別協力という形で開催準備に協力してきておりますが、他にも、二つほど共催事業をおこなう予定です。

ということで、今日はまずその中のひとつ、シンポジウムのご案内・・・

「あいちトリエンナーレ2010」のオープニング（いよいよ8月21日！）を記念し、日中韓3カ国を代表する国際展代表者の方々による国際シンポジウムを開催します。このシンポジウムでは、これまで各国際展の組織運営に継続して携わってきた方々をお招きし、それぞれの国際展のミッションと活動状況、主な成果について報告していただきます。また、国際展に今何が問われているのか、その課題と将来について、アートと社会、国際交流、文化による都市の再生、市民活動等の視点も交えながら、幅広く意見交換を行なう予定です。

Summer activities from Vietnam. ベトナム最新アート事情 by ニャー記者（ベトナム日本文化交流センター）

My name is Nha, from Hanoi, Vietnam. Let me start my first writing in Japan Foundation blog with some summer activities.

みなさん始めまして。ベトナム日本文化交流センターで働いています、ニャーです。（翻訳代行 mioです）

私の最初の記事ですので、事務所の夏のイベント報告から始めたいと思います。

In Vietnam, we also suffered from the hot weather in June and July as in Japan. The temperature sometimes reached at over 40oC for several days. However, the weather in Hanoi now (when I am writing this blog) is pretty cooler than the time we implemented our summer activities.

日本も暑かったみたいですが、ベトナムも6月7月はとても暑くて、気温が40℃に達した日もありました。今このブログを書いているときは、この夏の企画を練っていた当初よりは涼しいんですけどね。

Let’s start from a pantomime show in June by Naoki Iimuro from Osaka. Pantomime is not an unfamiliar genre for stage lovers in Vietnam, but it seemed to disappear from stage for years, partially due to lack of performers, partially due to lack of creative stories. According to Mr. Hoang Phuc Dzi, one of established pantomime actors in Vietnam, pantomime has been regarded as a boring genre in which it is difficult to seek new creativity for actors. Besides such reputation, Mr. Keum Gi Hyung, the director of Korean Culture Center, estimated from his past experience that it would be difficult to receive even around 100 audiences for one stage.

まずは6月にあった　いいむろなおきさん　のパントマイムをご紹介しましょう。パントマイムはベトナムの舞台好きにとっても決して遠い存在じゃないんですが、パフォーマーが足りないからなのか、クリエイティブな戯曲が無いからなのか、最近は遠ざかっていたようでした。ベトナムで有名なパントマイム俳優のHoang Phuc Dziさんは、パントマイムは役者がクリエイティビティを発揮しにくいつまらないジャンルだと思われているみたいと言ってたこともあります。そんなわけで、韓国文化院のKeum Gi Hyungさんはまあ100人も入らないだろうねと思ってたようです。

However, Naoki conducted two stages at Youth Theatre in Hanoi. The result was amazing. There were about 680 audiences came on the first show while there were only 618 seats in the theatre. That means some audiences had to stand or sit on the floor. In the second show, we greeted more than 700 audiences and had to close the gate when the show began or the theatre would be burst out. Naoki’s shows were deeply impressed by the audiences and received a lot of good responses. Most of audiences told us they were really impressed with Japanese pantomime with skillful movements and humorous but moved episodes. Do Hoang Dieu, the writer, invited to Japan by Japan Foundation in 2008, came twice and just commented simply that “Too splendid to say anything!”

ところが！いいむろなおきさんはハノイのユースシアターで２ステージ開催したのですが、すごかったんです。最初のステージには618席しかない劇場に、なんと680名が詰め掛けました。席に座れなかった人は床に座ったり立ち見をしたり。２回目のステージでは、なんと700名以上のお客さんが押し寄せ、ゲートを閉めなくちゃいけないくらいで、劇場が爆発しそうでした！ステージはとても好評で、「すごく技術が高いしユーモラスなのにその上エピソードが感動的！」とまで言っていただきました。国際交流基金の事業で2008年に来日していた作家のドー・ホアン・ジュウさんは、両方のステージを見に来てくれたのですが、「あまりにすごくて言葉もないです！」とコメントしてくださいました。

Just after the pantomime shows by Naoki Iimuro in Hanoi and Hue, we hurried to fly to Ho Chi Minh City, one of the biggest cities in Southern part of Vietnam, to hold the opening of the travelling exhibition “Passage to the Future,” in which 42 works of 11 contemporary artists were exhibited.

このパントマイム公演が終わってすぐ、私たちはベトナム南部のホーチミン市に向かいました。それというのも基金の巡回展「未来への回路－日本の新世代アーティスト」のオープニングがあったからです。

This was such a tough exhibition for us because it was the first time for us to organize a Japanese contemporary art exhibition in Vietnam. It took two to three days for us to re-decorate the whole exhibition venues before the openings.

Luckily, we always get professional assistants and well-managed artists for our artistic spaces. Most of visitors commented that they were surprised by the way Japanese artists combined the traditional skills and contemporary arts and this is a unique Janapanese “cute” exhibitions with lively colors.

これが、大変だったんです。というのも、これが私たちにとってはじめての現代美術展だったんです。オープニングの前に展示しなおす作業だけで丸3日もかかってしまいました。

でも、大抵展示のプロが手伝いに来てくれたり、アーティスト本人が何でも出来ちゃう人だったりするのでいつも助けられます。見に来てくれたお客さんは、伝統的な技術と現代美術が共生している様子や、かわいくてカラフルな展示を楽しんでくれたようでした。

キュレーターのNhu Huyさんと俳優のThanh Locさん。どちらの文化人で昨年来日していましたね。

And, just one day before the closing day of the travelling exhibition in Hue, another contemporary art exhibition entitled “On Each Milestone” was held at the exhibition hall of our center. The exhibition aims to introduce the recent achievement of a collaborative art unit “CAMAMOTO” formed by Hoang Duong Cam and Takayuki Yamamoto. JENESYS Creator Invitation Program, in which Mr. Cam was invited for the artist in residence in Japan, leaded encounter of the two artists, and consequently this exhibition came true. There were about 90 guests came with us in the space within the center area. It suddenly rained in the middle of the opening but according to Vietnamese’s conception, unexpected rain brings us wealth and success.

そして、フエでの展覧会が終わる直前、もうひとつの展覧会“On Each Milestone”が私たちのセンターでオープンしました。この展覧会はホアン・ズオン・カムさんと山本高之さんによるユニット“CAMAMOTO”を紹介するもの。カムさんは国際交流基金のJENESYSプログラムによって日本でアーティスト・イン・レジデンスをしていたんですが、そこで山本さんに出会い、今回の展示が実現しました。90人くらいがセンターエリアに集ってくれました。その後突然雨が降ったんですが、ベトナムでは急な雨は富と成功をもたらすという言うので、これはラッキーかもしれません。
