現在、国際交流基金の主催事業、コミュニティ×グラフィティ＠石巻のために石巻に来ています。

I’m here in Ishinomaki for the project “Community X Graffiti @Ishinomaki” hosted by the Japan Foundation.

今日は、4日終えた現在の状況をリポートいたします。

I’m going to report what’s going on in Ishinomakki now.

さて、3日から始まったこの事業ですが、3日は雨だったため、制作は4日からはじまりました。

今の時点では3団地が8割がた完成、6団地が5割程度完成しているような状況です。

写真、たくさん撮影しましたので、そのほんの一部をご紹介！

This event was scheduled to begin on December 3, but it was raining on the day, so the event was postponed to the following day of December 4. I took many pictures of graffiti drawings, so have fun looking at some of them!

どうですか？

とってもきれいですよね！遠くからみても、存在感抜群です。

車を運転する人たちがみんなじーっと眺めていきます。

事故にならないように看板もつくらないといけないかも。笑

How do you feel? They are so beautiful, aren’t they? They’re so appealing even though seen from a distance. People passing by gazed at the drawings while driving cars.

Maybe we should make caution signs to avoid car accidents. Ha ha ha!

さて、こんなすてきな壁画を描いてくださっているのが、我らがTitiさんです。

その絵のスタイルやご本人のブログの写真からはストリート感溢れる、イケイケなブラジル・ギャング（！？）を想像してしまいますが、実はとっっってもお子さん大好きな、こころやさしいお兄さんです。

It is our Titi who has been drawing such cool graffiti drawings on the walls of temporary houses. You might imagine a groovy Brazilian gangster from his drawing style and his portrait on the blog site, but actually he is such a nice guy who loves his son verrrrrrry much!

そんなTitiさん、住民のみなさんにばっちり受け入れられてます。

ヨーヨー・マスターTitiさんのもとには学校帰りのこどもたちが群がり、昼間にはおじさんたちがTitiの作業を見に来てくださいます。

おかあさんたちは差し入れのおやつなどをもって応援に来てくださいます。

Titiさんは本当に人気者なのですー

Titi is perfectly welcomed by the residents.

Yo-yo master Titi is surrounded by kids after school, and some men come and see him drawing graffiti during the daytime. Moms bring him some snacks or sweets.

He is soooo popular among the residents!

昨日は比較的暖かい一日だったので、かなりの数の住民さんが見に来てくれたり、歩いているところを足をとめて絵を見てくださったりしました。

It was warmer yesterday, so a number of residents visited him or stopped by to see his drawings.

この事業は壁画を制作することで、仮設住宅に彩りを加えること、住宅にアイデンティティをもたせることを目標にしています。

ですが、もうひとつ、忘れてはいけない大きな目標があります。

それは、住民のみなさん同士でのコミュニケーションを場を提供すること、です。

This graffiti drawing project aims to attach unique identities to temporary houses.

Another big goal to be kept in mind is to provide the residents of the community with an opportunity for communication.

昨日は本当にたくさんの方が見に来てくださいました。

最初はTitiさんとお話したり、近くにいるスタッフと話したりしていますが、Titiさんやスタッフが作業に戻ると、住民のみなさんはその場で井戸端会議を始められます。

So many people came to the event yesterday.

At first, the residents talked to Titi or staff working thereby, but then they started to chat at the event site.

その話題はTitiさんの壁画の話であることもありますが、それ以外の日常の情報交換であることも多々あります。

これこそ、今回の事業がめざしていたひとつの効果ですよね。

すでにTitiさん効果がかなり発揮されています。

週末のワークショップが楽しみです♪

They talked about Titi’s graffiti drawings, but also exchanged information for everyday life. This is it we headed for. Positive power of his drawings has brought quite good effects to the community. I can’t wait for workshops on the weekend♪

Hello everyone! My name is Joey and I am the new intern at The Japan Foundation, Sydney!

みなさんはじめまして。私の名前はジョイーで、シドニーでのThe Japan Foundationの新しいインターンです。

Last week has been extremely busy here. The 15th Japanese Film Festival in Sydney had just ended and we are now preparing for the evaluation report.

先週はすごく忙しかったんです！シドニーの第１５回目の日本映画祭はもう終わりましたから、いま評価報告書を準備中しています。

I think this year's event was very successful, particularly because we even had the Japanese famous actor Yutaka Takenouchi appear as a special guest! As you can imagine, there were lots of enthusiastic fans (particularly female fans) who were all too keen on getting a glimpse of him in flesh. It was really interesting and inspiring to see everyone doing their part so the event could run smoothly.

今年は非常に成功だったと思います。特に、日本の有名な俳優竹野内豊さんは、特別なゲストとしてイベントに現われたからです！思ったとおり、竹野内さんを見に行きたい熱心的なファン（特に女性ファン）がいっぱいいました。イベントがミスがなしに実行できるように、みんなのそれぞれの役割を目にして、本当に面白くて、偉いと思いました。

Working at The Japan Foundation has allowed me to make lots of new friends. Everyone here is kind and patient with me, so I hope I can really make a significant contribution to The Japan Foundation.

The Japan Foundationで働くのは新しい友達ができてよかったです。みなさんは私に対して親切で辛抱強いですから、重要な貢献をできるように頑張っています。

今週末、12月3日から12月11日まで、

石巻市の仮設住宅、トゥモロー・ビジネス・タウンにて、仮設住宅の壁に壁画を描く、というプロジェクトを実施します！

We, the Japan Foundation, will have an project in Ishinomaki from 3rd of Dec. to 11th of Dec.

The project is an art project that an graffiti artist paints walls of temporary houses with residents.

国際交流基金では、

The purpose of the project is

仮設住宅に彩りを加え、毎日の生活がより明るいものになるよう、

to make white temporary houses more colorful and make daily life more delightful, and

また、壁画の共同制作をとおして、住民のみなさんの間でのコミュニケーションのきっかけを作り、より活気あふれるコミュニティづくりの一助となるよう、

to give a chance for residents to communicate with each other and help them to make more cheerful community.

このプロジェクトを企画しました。

We hope this project will work well and be a fun experience for residents.

さて、注目の派遣アーティストはブラジルが誇る、国際的グラフィティ・アーティスト、Titi Freakさんです。

Titiさんは日系ブラジル3世、サンパウロ生まれ。

3歳の男の子のパパでもあります。こういってはナンですが、かなりの親バカさんです！

先日、事前準備のために石巻に行ったときには息子さんと電話で話して満面の笑みでした。

The artist is Titi Freak, who is a famous Brazilian graffiti artist.

He is the 3rd generation of Japanese having immigrated to Brazil, and was born and has grown up in Sao Paulo.

Also he is a father of 3-year old boy, and he dotes on his child^^

When we visited Ishinomaki for preparation, he was talking with his son on the phone with a huge smile!!

そんなTitiさんの描くグラフィティはとっても素敵です。

世界各国でグラフィティを描き、NIKEやaddidasなどの超有名ブランドのお仕事も手がける、人気アーティストです。

過去に日本にいらしたこともたくさんあり、日本で作品を描いたりもしています。

Titi's graffiti works are fascinating.

He drew various pieces of graffiti all over the world. He has also collaborated with NIKE, addidas etc. He is such a star artist!

とくに「魚と雲がすき」とおっしゃるだけあり、お魚の絵がとてもたくさん描いていらっしゃいます。

このお魚の絵、石巻でも仮設住宅住民のみなさんのココロをつかんでいました！

He says that he likes fish and cloud, and you can see them in his works.

His nice graffiti of fish fascinated many residents in Ishinomaki!

今回の仮設住宅の壁画はどんな絵になるのでしょうか・・・！？
